Before heading into the heart of the Serengeti, I spent a restful night at Bougainvilla Safari Lodge near Karatu. Tucked away in lush greenery, this lodge is not only charming and quiet—but also surprisingly affordable.

A spacious garden with neatly arranged cottages, perfect for a soft landing before a dusty safari ride.

What struck me most was the serenity of the grounds. The poolside area, surrounded by tall trees and trimmed lawns, felt like a pocket of peace.

The lodge is just a short drive away from Ngorongoro Crater, making it one of the most conveniently located stops for travelers heading deeper into the Northern Safari Circuit.

And the food?
Surprisingly delightful. The restaurant served fresh local dishes with a continental touch. After a day on the road, their warm meals tasted like a reward.
